Job summary

Mint Selection are partnering with a leading renewable energy developer to recruit an experienced Grid Connection Construction Project Manager for a major UK project.

The role will oversee the grid connection and high-voltage infrastructure works from notice to proceed through to completion, managing contractor performance, coordinating interfaces and keeping the programme on track through construction, testing, energisation and handover.

Qualifications

• Experience leading major infrastructure, utilities or regulated construction projects.
• Contract awareness across EPC, design-and-build or FIDIC contracts.
• Strong ability to track critical paths, milestones and risks.

Responsibilities

• Manage grid connection contractor performance and adherence to programme.
• Maintain a clear view of critical path, deliverables and dependencies.
• Coordinate interfaces between grid works, transformer supply and other EPC contractors.
• Track testing and pre-energisation requirements with grid stakeholders.
• Review programmes, identify delays and drive recovery plans.
• Coordinate contractor submissions, actions and deadlines with owners.
• Chair contractor meetings and maintain logs of actions, risks and decisions.
• Collaborate with Contracts Manager on changes, notices, milestones and payments.
• Report on safety, programme, progress, cost, quality and key decisions.
• Escalate significant issues with impact assessment and recommended actions.

Role – Grid Connection Construction Project Manager

Location – UK

Mint Selection are partnered with a leading renewable energy developer to recruit an experienced Grid Connection Construction Project Manager for a major UK project.

The position will oversee the grid connection and high-voltage infrastructure works from notice to proceed through to completion. You will manage contractor performance, coordinate key interfaces and keep the programme on track through construction, testing, energisation and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the grid connection contractor and hold them to their programme and contractual commitments.
• Maintain a clear view of the critical path, upcoming deliverables, decisions, dependencies and risks.
• Coordinate interfaces between grid connection works, transformer supply, solar EPC contractors and cable route works.
• Work with grid stakeholders to track testing and pre-energisation requirements.
• Review contractor programmes, identify delays early and drive recovery plans where required.
• Coordinate contractor submissions and approvals, ensuring actions have clear owners and deadlines.
• Chair contractor meetings and maintain accurate action, risk, issue and decision logs.
• Work with the Contracts Manager on changes, notices, milestones and payments.
• Report on safety, programme, progress, cost, quality and key decisions.
• Escalate significant issues with a clear assessment of the impact and recommended action.

Experience Required

• Strong project management experience on major infrastructure, utilities, energy or regulated construction projects.
• Experience managing contractors across complex construction programmes.
• Ability to assess progress against the critical path and drive recovery plans.
• Experience coordinating multiple contractors, suppliers and project interfaces.
• Good commercial and contract awareness, including EPC, design-and-build or FIDIC contracts.
• A disciplined approach to project records, actions, deadlines and reporting.
• Confidence to challenge contractors and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
• Grid connection or high-voltage infrastructure experience would be highly advantageous.
