Job summary

Away Resorts is seeking a greenkeeper for Piperdam Leisure Resort to maintain 9- and 18-hole courses to the highest standards. You will operate ride-on mowers and turf care equipment, ensuring pristine playing conditions for guests and members.

Passion for golf course maintenance, attention to detail and strong teamwork are essential. A full driving licence is required; maintenance skills welcome. Training and development are available.

Qualifications

• Greenkeeping expertise with course setup, turf care and presentation standards.
• Proficiency with ride-on machinery such as mowers, aerators and tractors.
• Keen eye for detail and pride in presenting the course at its best.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, solving problems as they arise.
• Good communication skills and collaboration with colleagues and departments.

Responsibilities

• Daily course maintenance including mowing greens, fairways and tees; rake bunkers; set up tee markers and hole positions.
• Carry out turf management such as aeration, scarification, top-dressing, fertilisation and overseeding.
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems for optimal moisture levels.
• Identify and treat turf diseases and pests to keep the course in pristine condition.
• Conduct safety checks of lakes, bunkers and equipment in line with standards.
• Care for landscaping and presentation, including shrubs and flowerbeds; keep front-of-house tidy.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the team, you'll be working to ensure that our golf courses are maintained to the highest standards, creating an exceptional playing experience for all our guests and members. Key responsibilities include:

• Daily Course Maintenance: Preparing the course each day, including mowing greens, fairways, and tees; raking bunkers; and setting up tee markers and hole positions to ensure the course is ready for play.
• Turf Management: Carrying out aeration, scarification, top-dressing, fertilisation, and overseeding to promote healthy turf growth.
• Irrigation Management: Monitoring and maintaining the irrigation systems to ensure optimal moisture levels across the course.
• Pest and Disease Control: Identifying and treating turf diseases and pests to keep the course in pristine condition.
• Health and Safety: Conducting regular inspections of the lakes, bunkers, and life-preserving equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Landscaping and Presentation: Caring for bushes, trees, and ornamental areas, maintaining flowerbeds, and keeping all front-of-house areas litter-free to create a great first impression.
• Equipment Maintenance: Keeping machinery, tools, and ride-on equipment cleaned, checked, and well maintained to ensure they function effectively.
• Record Keeping: Logging maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment servicing for reference and compliance.
• Team Collaboration: Working closely with the greenkeeping team and other departments to maintain exceptional standards and improve member and guest experiences.
• Membership Engagement: Supporting the team in enhancing memberships and fostering a welcoming golfing community.

Skills, experience and qualities you’ll need

You will need a full driving licence too and it would be the icing on the cake if are good at general maintenance repairs.
