Job summary

The University of Bradford is seeking a motivated Research Finance Officer to provide financial information and advice to grants holders. You will submit claims and invoices and ensure compliance with funder requirements and university policies.

You will manage day-to-day financials for a portfolio of grants, analyse budgets, prepare reports, and respond professionally to stakeholder inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including Maths and English.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret funder terms and conditions.
• Ability to utilise Windows-based software applications, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues, including academic, administrative, financial, and non-financial staff, both within and outside the University.
• Experience in working with financial systems
• Knowledge of general ledger systems.
• High standard of numeracy and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial management of a large portfolio of research grants and contracts.
• Preparation of financial claims to meet grant specific deadlines, the gathering documentary evidence, including timesheets, invoices & receipts where required.
• Proactively oversee projects, interrogate nominal ledger data to analyse against budget, investigate and resolve financial anomalies, process journals and transaction corrections, produce financial reports for grant holders, and respond to stakeholder enquiries in a professional, timely and confidential manner.
