Job summary

The National Archives is seeking a Grant Development Officer to support grant fundraising and the development of grant-funded projects. You will work with the Grant Development Manager and colleagues across the department to strengthen grant funding, partnerships and fellowships.

Responsibilities include supporting pre‑award processes, budgeting and communications, and collaborating with The National Archives Trust to deliver impactful heritage projects with national reach.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level education or equivalent experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• An understanding of grant funding in the research and/or cultural heritage sectors.
• High level of numeracy for budgeting and financial processing.
• Strong time management and ability to prioritise in a shifting workload.
• Excellent communication across channels including meetings, videoconferences and written submissions.
• Good judgement on when to progress issues independently or escalate.

Responsibilities

• Proactively support the Grant Development Team in managing grant applications from ideation to submission to funders.
• Identify and research new funders and opportunities matching internal initiatives.
• Assist with budgeting, costings and financial compliance for grant proposals.
• Coordinate communications and documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Lead on preparation of agendas, minutes and events for grant development activities.
