Job description

See it differently

You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.

Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates and students who help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

The opportunity

Our Transport planning practice is at the forefront in thinking about the future of our cities, towns, and transport networks – driving innovation, using systems thinking, data analytics and modelling together with an advisory mindset, to deliver what our clients need.

Low carbon transport is our priority, be it trains, trams, buses or active modes and smarter transport solutions.

We are involved in a broad range of projects; from developing transport strategy and policy, through business case development and economic appraisal, to the planning of new transport networks and systems. We are engaged in some of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK, ranging from Northern Powerhouse Rail to Great Grid Upgrade and the Haweswater Aqueduct Replacement Programme. Alongside this, we make a real impact in our local communities, for example through active travel masterplans, and improving local public transport provision. We work for devolved administrations, local Councils, infrastructure operators and private sector organisations.

  • Preparing reports on technical analysis and findings

  • Undertaking numerical analysis

  • Understanding various computer software tools ranging from Microsoft Excel through to specific modelling packages
