Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a motivated Graduate Highways Development Management Engineer to help assess planning applications and influence transport infrastructure for new developments in the area. You will work with an experienced team, report to a Principal Engineer, and gain hands-on experience across highways engineering and development management.

You will contribute to reviews of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, undertake site visits, and support legal agreement

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Curious and analytical mindset with ability to learn.
• Able to work collaboratively with a wide range of people.

Responsibilities

• Assess planning applications from individual developments to major growth sites.
• Review Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and traffic modelling.
• Conduct site visits and support highway infrastructure design reviews.
• Assist with preparation and monitoring of legal agreements.
• Collaborate with developers, consultants and council colleagues to shape places and communities.
