Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
• Undertaking planning appraisals and research

• Liaising with clients, local authorities and other consultants
• Supporting the promotion of development sites through the planning system

I'm currently working with a specialist property and planning consultancy in Chelmsford that is looking to strengthen its planning team with the appointment of a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their experience within private-sector planning, working alongside experienced Chartered Town Planners on a varied portfolio of projects.

The Role

As a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner, you will be involved across a range of planning projects, gaining exposure to both day-to-day development management and more strategic planning work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
• Undertaking planning appraisals and research

The Candidate

I'm keen to speak with candidates who are either recently graduated or have some initial planning experience within consultancy or the public sector.

Ideally, you will have:

• A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or a related discipline
• Some understanding of the UK planning system
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• A genuine interest in developing a career within planning consultancy
• The ability to work independently as well as as part of a wider team
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
