Job summary

SOAS University of London, Bloomsbury, London, seeks a Graduate Teaching Assistant or Teaching Fellow to lead tutorials for two compulsory MA modules in Gender Studies. The role targets candidates who have completed or are near completion of a doctoral programme with a strong background in gender and queer theory.

Teaching postgraduate students is desirable and the role is paid hourly. The position is fixed-term with an emphasis on preparing and delivering teaching, marking at the basic hourly

Qualifications

• Strong background in gender and queer theory.
• Experience teaching postgraduate students is desirable.
• Ability to communicate complex theories clearly to diverse students.

Responsibilities

• Lead tutorials for two compulsory MA modules: Gender Theory and the Study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East (Semester 1) and Feminist Theory and the Study Asia, Africa, and the Middle East (Semester 2).
• Support students, including non-native English speakers, in navigating complex theories.
• Contribute to course administration and assessment as part of the teaching contract.
