Job summary

Harris Girls' Academy Bromley is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support individuals and groups of students, enabling access to learning and helping maintain a purposeful, nurturing environment. You will assist in lesson activities, help develop resources and schemes of work with teaching staff, monitor progress, provide feedback, and support behaviour management to ensure every student can learn effectively.

Qualifications

• Qualifications to degree level or equivalent.
• Knowledge of strategies for working with young people with challenging behaviours.
• Awareness of social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Health and safety awareness in the workplace.
• Experience of working with young people in an education or training environment.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Experience of managing own workload.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting identified students, in 1:1, group or whole class situations, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
• Assisting in the development of resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies with the teacher.
• Assisting in evaluating students' progress through agreed assessment activities.
• Providing detailed and regular feedback to teachers on students' achievement, progress and needs.
• Leading small group sessions and interventions as appropriate.
• Attending to the students' personal needs where required.
• Supporting with behaviour management, using appropriate strategies in line with academy policy.
• Contributing to creating a purposeful and supportive learning environment.
• Undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes and adjusting activities to meet goals.
