Job description

Dean Close Foundation is looking to appoint a new cohort of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) starting in September 2025, who are seeking to start a career in teaching or sports coaching. Under the line management of the Assistant Head Co-Curricular, the GTA role is pivotal in providing sporting and academic support for pupils, a top-class evening and weekend activity programme, contributing to the academic life of the school, and being an integral part of the boarding community. Other roles and responsibilities include:

1. Pastoral duties supporting our Houseparents in various duties in our boarding house.
2. Assisting in the delivery of co-curricular learning outside of the classroom in areas such as sport, music, and drama.
3. Running and coaching various sports teams with the Foundation.
4. Assisting the relevant Academic Department related to your degree, supporting our teaching staff before working with small groups to enhance their learning.
5. Supervision of workrooms and lessons during a teacher's absence.

The successful candidates will be qualified to degree level and have a passion for starting their career in teaching or sports coaching. Previous experience in boarding school life would be advantageous; however, this is not essential.
