Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students in SEN and SEMH schools around Newbury. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, assisting teachers to deliver engaging lessons and helping students stay focused.

This role is ideal for recent graduates aiming for teaching, educational psychology or youth work. You'll gain hands-on classroom experience while developing behaviour management, communication, and pastoral care skills in a supportive environment with mentorship

Qualifications

• Recent graduates in relevant fields and a passion for working with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilient, patient and adaptable in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Support students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible lessons.
• Help students stay focused and on task.
• Support SEN students (autism, ADHD, SEMH) and emotional regulation.
• Use behaviour de-escalation strategies when required.
• Build positive relationships with students and monitor progress.
