Overview

Commencing in June 2026, this Graduate Support Worker position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your professional skills and make a difference. The Graduate Support Worker will be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working within the principle of harm minimization, residents receive a high degree of care, support and dignity. Depaul is committed to service user participation and to empowering residents to manage their own lives.

This role works across a 7-day week rota.

At the end of the twelve month programme graduates will be able to:

  • To work as a member of a multi-disciplined team in the best interests of the residents and report to team
  • To encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living.
  • Observe and participate in key worker sessions with service users when required
  • Provide a presentation on Support Worker experience
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • To encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living.
  • In conjunction with residents and the rest of the team to ensure that the service is kept to a good standard of tidiness, cleanliness and hygiene including communal areas
  • Encouraging service users to take responsibility for maintaining their own environment.
  • Observe and attend key worker sessions with service users when required
  • Provide a report on an assigned case study during Support Worker Rotation
  • In conjunction with project team, to assist residents with personal monies, service charge payments, etc. where necessary.
  • Carry out project administration tasks such as upkeep of petty cash, project statistics, invoices, record keeping, Service User’s files, OTIS, IR and AR completion etc.
Position Graduate Support Worker
  • To ensure that Health and Safety standards are met within the project in accordance with Depaul’s Health and Safety policy and the project’s Safety Statement.
  • To undertake assigned duties regarding the overall health and safety and security of the service and to use security systems put in place.
  • Supporting residents - To maintain positive Mental Health
  • To work as a member of a multi-disciplined team in the best interests of the residents and report to team and partner agency when Case Workers are not available
  • To plan and facilitate onsite social activities.
  • To attend and participate in team meetings and staff team days.
  • To participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal, and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs.
  • To participate in ongoing graduate programmes and events

The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility both in relation to tasks and direct reports may be added over time.

Person Requirements and Experience
  • Qualification in the Social Care field- Social Care, Psychology, Social Science, Criminology or Community Development
  • Process an understanding of why people become homeless and the issues they present with, understanding what supports can be offered in homeless services to service users with complex support needs
  • Have a knowledge of the statutory and voluntary sector resources available to homeless people
  • Be a good communicator and computer literate
  • Knowledge and understanding of Depaul vision mission and values.
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Relevant experience within the Community and Voluntary sector

  • Driving Licence
