Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow is seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Glaston. You will support the Engineering Line Manager with reports, calculations, and drawings while liaising with clients and professionals to progress projects.

You will be involved in planning approvals, site inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulations. A strong foundation in structural engineering and excellent communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must hold a BSc (Hons) and/or MSc (Hons) IStructE or GMICE as IStructE or ICE.
• Experience in consulting engineering, surveying, architectural and planning practices.
• Awareness of latest statutory requirements, technical publications and guidelines.
• Experience working to deadlines and within budgets.
• Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills.
• Ability to think methodically to problem solve and manage projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation.
• UK Driving Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports, calculations, designs and drawings.
• Provide technical advice to clients.
• Obtain planning/building regulations approvals.
• Monitor and inspect contractor work.
• Liaise with architects and other professionals.
• Maintain client relationships and manage expectations.
• Administer contracts and manage projects.
• Inspect and survey client properties and sites.
• Ensure compliance with CDM2015, Part wall and listed buildings.
• Assess sustainability and environmental impact.
