Job summary

Amey in Newcastle is recruiting for a Graduate Bridges and Civil Structures Engineer. You will join an experienced team delivering UK and international projects, supporting investigations, design, inspections and asset management.

The role offers development through mentoring, industry exposure and hands-on experience with diverse programmes, from highways to water and energy sectors, aligned to Amey’s sustainable infrastructure goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering – (Minimum Grade 2:1)
  • An interest in bridges / civil structures
  • A commitment to sustainable development.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of an experienced team, working on some of the most exciting and challenging projects across the UK and internationally.
  • Help develop practical, sustainable solutions for bridges and civil structures; from investigation to optioneering, feasibility, concept and detailed design, construction supervision and asset management.
  • Undertake structural analysis, design and assessment calculations.
  • Develop carbon and cost estimates, 3D models, drawings and technical documents.
  • Assist with bridge inspections, investigations, structural health monitoring, and supervision of works
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of world-class data, analytics and digital technology solutions.

About the Team

Our bridges and civil structures team work across a range of sectors including transportation, water and energy. Our clients include National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, Welsh Government, Department for Infrastructure, MOW Bahamas, Local Authorities and D&B Contractors. We have multiple long-term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets. Recent / ongoing projects include:

  • National Highways Scheme Delivery Frameworks
  • Severn Bridges Specialist Bridge Inspection and Maintenance
  • Bahamas Glass Windows Bridge replacement
  • Network Rail TransPennine Route Upgrade
  • ADEPT Live Labs 2 Decarbonisation programme
  • A66 Northern Trans-Pennine upgrade design
  • Transport for London Infrastructure Improvement Framework
What you’ll be doing

As a Bridges and Civil Structures Graduate you will:
