Job summary

Amey, a leading UK infrastructure specialist, is seeking a Graduate Bridges and Civil Structures Engineer in Exeter. You'll work on meaningful projects from day one, learning from industry experts and contributing to our bridges and civil structures team.

You'll assist with structural analysis, development of practical, sustainable solutions, and design tasks across UK projects, with mentoring and a structured development programme.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum 2:1)
  • Interest in bridges / civil structures
  • Commitment to sustainable development

  • Be part of an experienced team, working on exciting projects across the UK and internationally
  • Help develop practical, sustainable solutions for bridges and civil structures from investigation to design
  • Undertake structural analysis, design and assessment calculations
  • Develop carbon and cost estimates, 3D models, drawings and technical documents
  • Assist with bridge inspections, investigations and supervision of works
  • Contribute to data, analytics and digital technology solutions

About the Team
Our bridges and civil structures team work across a range of sectors including transportation, water and energy. Our clients include National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, Welsh Government, Department for Infrastructure, MOW Bahamas, Local Authorities and D&B Contractors. We have multiple long‑term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets. Recent / ongoing projects include:

  • Severn Bridges Specialist Bridge Inspection and Maintenance

  • ADEPT Live Labs 2 Decarbonisation programme
  • A66 Northern Trans-Pennine upgrade design
  • Transport for London Infrastructure Improvement Framework
What you’ll be doing
  • Be part of an experienced team, working on some of the most exciting and challenging projects across the UK and internationally.
  • Help develop practical, sustainable solutions for bridges and civil structures; from investigation to optioneering, feasibility, concept and detailed design, construction supervision and asset management.
  • Undertake structural analysis, design and assessment calculations.
  • Develop carbon and cost estimates, 3D models, drawings and technical documents.
  • Assist with bridge inspections, investigations, structural health monitoring, and supervision of works
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of world‑class data, analytics and digital technology solutions.
