Understanding Recruitment in the United Kingdom is seeking a Junior Test Software Engineer to join an established software company building finance and procurement platforms used by major public-sector organisations.

You’ll write code in Java, build automated tests, and work across APIs, databases and web applications within a real production engineering environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on engineering experience in a growth-focused team.

Qualifications

• Early career in CS/Software Engineering with strong Java fundamentals.

• Some exposure to automated testing is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Write automated tests in Java and Selenium.
• Test APIs using Rest Assured.
• Work with SQL, Cucumber, JUnit/TestNG and Git.
• Investigate failures and collaborate with developers.
• Help maintain and improve existing automation frameworks.

This isn’t a traditional manual testing role. You’ll bewriting code in Java, building automated tests and working across APIs, databases and web applications within a real production engineering environment.

• Investigate failures and work closely with developers
• Help maintain and improve existing automation frameworks

This would suit someone early in their career with aComputer Science / Software Engineering backgroundwho enjoys coding, problem solving and wants strong hands-on engineering experience.

You don’t need to know every testing framework already — strongJava fundamentals, OOP knowledge and a willingness to learnare much more important.

£30K–£35K base
