Job summary

Ryanair is recruiting a Graduate Flight SIM Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be based at East Midlands Airport and perform daily readiness checks to ensure FSTD is ready for operation.

You will maintain Flight Simulator Equipment to EASA FSTD-A Level ‘D’ and review aircraft and vendor service bulletins, install/load software, and liaise with aircrew and inspectors to resolve defects. This role supports our high-volume pilot training schedule.

Qualifications

  • Recognized degree or equivalent in electronic/avionic engineering.
  • Background in aviation or flight simulation.
  • Specialization in digital flight simulation and data networking with distributed microprocessing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily readiness checks for the Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD).
  • Maintain FSTD equipment to high standards and ensure compliance with EASA/UK requirements.
  • Review and implement aircrew service bulletins and software loads.
  • Liaise with aircrew and inspectors on technical issues and defects.
  • Install and verify aircraft loadable software and hardware changes.
  • Coordinate with FSTD vendors to resolve defects and obtain vendor support.
  • Run Quality Test Guide (QTG) tests and record results.
  • Design modifications to simulators to stay compatible with Ryanair fleet.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Carry out additional daily operations tasks at the Flight Simulator Training Centre.

Job Description

Ryanair is currently recruiting for a Graduate Flight SIM Engineer to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody to progress their career and gain experience in Europe’s leading airline.

Our Simulators are in use over 20 hours per day. We currently employ over 8,000 pilots and the SIM's are used for both initial and recurrent training.

As a SIM engineer you will maintain various training equipment and associated Flight Training Devices and carry our preventative and corrective action on our SIM's to ensure minimal disruption to our pilot training schedule.

The successful candidates will be based at East Midlands Airport and will have to perform the following duties:

  • Perform daily readiness checks to ensure FSTD is ready for daily operation.
  • Maintain Flight Simulator Equipment to EASA FSTD-A Level ‘D’ Standard.
  • Maintain the Quality System in accordance with EASA Requirements.
  • Review and implement aircraft and vendor service bulletins.
  • Install and verify aircraft loadable software.
  • Liaise with aircrew at the technical level on aircraft systems to resolve defects.
  • Liaise with technical inspectors at initial and recurrent qualifications.
  • Liaise with FSTD vendors to rectify defects requiring vendor support.
  • Run and check the scheduled Quality Test Guide (QTG) Tests.
  • Design and embody modifications on the simulators to maintain compatibility with Ryanair fleet using hardware and software engineering skills.
  • Conduct technical defect clearance with nominated flight crew.
  • Conduct a subjective evaluation session of FSTD performance with flight crew.
  • Conduct a subjective evaluation session of a visual database with flight crew.
  • Maintain compliance with the UK Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Complete any other tasks that are reasonably required to carry out the daily operation of a Flight Simulator Training Centre
Qualifications
  • Recognized University Degree, Apprenticeship or Adult Training in electronic and avionic engineering
  • A background in aviation/flight simulation.
  • Specializing in Digital Flight Simulation, Complex Data Networking and Process Control using Distributed Micro processing.
