As a Graduate SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to provide individualised support to students with a range of needs, including autism,

Qualifications

• Hold a degree or be due to graduate.
• Genuine interest in SEND and supporting young people.
• Patient, empathetic and approachable.
• Confident communicating with students and professionals.
• Flexible, reliable and professional.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
• Help students access the curriculum and engage with learning.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Support students with their confidence, emotional regulation, and wellbeing.
• Encourage independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.
• Support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and learning needs.
• Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to implement individual support strategies.
• Adapt activities and communication approaches to meet individual student needs.
• Monitor student engagement, behaviour, wellbeing, and progress.
• Provide feedback to teachers and relevant support staff.
• Assist with classroom activities and targeted interventions.
• Support students during transitions, break times, and other activities where required.
• Follow individual support plans, safeguarding procedures, and school policies.
