A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established SEN specialist school in Sheffield from September 2025, with earlier starts available for the right candidate. This full-time position offers up to £625 per week, depending on experience and qualifications.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – The Role

  • Up to £550 per week
  • Long-term, full-time Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role.
  • Support students in 1:1 and small group interventions, focusing on communication, social development, and independence
  • Use a range of communication tools including PECS, Makaton, BSL, and AAC systems
  • Help implement therapy targets under guidance from Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists
  • Provide a calm, consistent, and supportive presence throughout the school day
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to help students achieve their personal and academic goals

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Person Specification

  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is highly desirable
  • Experience working or volunteering with children or young people, especially those with SEN
  • High levels of empathy, resilience, and emotional intelligence
  • A patient and non-judgemental approach, with a belief in unconditional positive regard
  • Desire to pursue a career in a related field such as SEN teaching, therapy, or child psychology
  • A driving licence is beneficial but not essential
