Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in classrooms and small groups across secondary schools in Leeds and surrounding areas. This part-time role focuses on promoting inclusive learning, managing behaviour, and assisting with curriculum delivery.

You will work closely with teachers, monitor student progress, and report safeguarding concerns. The ideal candidate has strong behaviour management, good communication, and a proactive, adaptable approach;

Job Title: Graduate SEN Teaching assistant

Location: Leeds and surrounding areas

The Role:

We are looking to appoint a SEN Teaching assistant that can work in the classroom or in small groups with children. This would be on a part-time basis across secondary schools in Leeds and surrounding areas. We are seeking a motivated individual to help change the lives of young children. You will need to have strong behaviour management skills and be passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). A successful candidate will be able to help create an inclusive, inspiring environment that supports pupils with their learning, so your approach will need to be adapted to be able to meet needs if working in small groups.

• Implement effective strategies to manage and de- escalte challenging behaviour.
• Working closely with teachers and assisting with delivering lessons.
• Assist with academic work where necessary ensuring the pupil remains engaged and supported.
• Be able to record and report on pupil's progress, behaviours, interventions and any safeguarding concerns.

The School and Requirements:

Previous experience in a school setting or working with children is desirable but not essential.

• You can demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners.
• Excellent communication to be able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Have a proactive, positive and adaptable approach.
• Can confidently adapt learning to meet academic requirements to meet a range of different needs and age groups.
• Have a good understanding of the National Curriculum.
