Pertemps Education Network seeks a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism and communication needs in a Brixton primary school. This role welcomes psychology graduates aiming to gain hands-on experience in SEN education and educational psychology pathways.

You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and specialists to help students overcome barriers to learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence in a supportive setting.

Formación

• Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject; relevant experience may be considered.
• Passion for autism and communication needs.
• Experience with children, ideally in a school or SEN setting.
• Ability to adapt support to each child’s needs.
• Willingness to learn specialist SEN strategies and develop practice.

Responsabilidades

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with SEN.
• Supporting autistic pupils to develop communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Helping children access the primary curriculum through differentiated activities and individualised learning strategies.
• Using visual supports, structured activities and appropriate communication strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
• Supporting pupils with sensory sensitivities, anxiety or transitions.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
• Working with class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to support targets.
• Building trusting relationships with pupils and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.
