Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting graduates to support primary schools in Wakefield and surrounding areas on a supply basis. Roles range from day-to-day to longer-term positions, offering valuable classroom experience and opportunities for professional development.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates with a passion for education, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and pupils. Enhanced DBS and UK Right to Work are required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant higher education qualification.
• Genuine passion for working with children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one) and Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning and development on a 1:1, small-group or whole-class basis.
• Work with class teachers and school staff to support pupils and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Support social, emotional and behavioural development and encourage confidence and relationships.
• Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning tasks to help pupils reach targets.
• Build professional relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model.

We’re currently recruiting for Graduates with a passion for working in education to join Primary Schools and educational settings in and around Wakefield, on a long or short-term basis starting in September.

This role is on a supply basis and could either be Day-2-Day work or a Longer-Term position, depending on your preference.

This is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates looking to build valuable experience within education, particularly those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, child development, SEND or pastoral support.

You’ll be joining supportive, inclusive schools that put children’s wellbeing, development and education at the centre of everything they do. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands‑on classroom experience, develop your professional skills and become a familiar face within a school community.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Support pupils with their learning and development on a 1:1, small-group or whole-class basis.
• Work closely with class teachers and school staff to support pupils and contribute to a positive classroom environment.
• Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development, encouraging confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning tasks to help pupils achieve their individual targets.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model and encouraging engagement with education.
• Promote the safety and wellbeing of all pupils by following safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.

Requirements or Skills:

• A degree or relevant higher education qualification, ideally in Education, Childhood Studies, Psychology, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care or another child-related subject.
• A genuine passion for working with children and young people and an interest in developing a career within education.
• Previous experience working with children is desirable, but not essential – this could include volunteering, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or placement experience.
• A patient, enthusiastic and adaptable approach, with the confidence to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• A willingness to learn and develop your understanding of education, safeguarding and inclusive practice.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the Right to Work in the UK.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
