Job summary

Leonardo’s 18-month Graduate Power Engineer Programme is based at our Edinburgh or Newcastle sites. You will design, test and integrate power components, working with world-class experts to deliver high-performance avionic sensor systems.

The role includes rigorous on-site learning three to four days per week, coaching toward chartership, and exposure to cross-disciplinary teams. Starting salary is £34,000 per year with a £1,000 welcome bonus and a £1,000 exit bonus on completion.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Interest in power systems, energy storage, or energy conservation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Able to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience across the development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, applied research and test.
• Liaise with engineers from other disciplines and interface with customers/end users when opportunities arise.
• Develop power circuit designs, switch-mode power supplies and interface circuitry with supervision from experts.
• Use simulation tools to design circuits and systems and contribute to hardware development.
• Prepare technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of hardware design processes and methodologies.
