Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant – The Role
  1. Long-term, full-time Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant role
  2. Up to £530 per week
  3. Provide pastoral and academic support for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), helping them navigate both their education and personal development.
  4. Support students in developing life skills and preparing for their transition into adulthood, independent living, and community engagement.
  5. Assist students with speech and communication needs, working with speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to implement tailored support strategies.
  6. Offer emotional support and create a safe, structured environment where students feel valued and understood.
  7. Work with students who may require physical and medical assistance, including those in wheelchairs or hospital beds.
  8. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for each student.
Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant – Candidate Requirements
  1. A 2:1 or higher degree in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education, or a related subject.
  2. A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN and additional needs.
  3. High levels of resilience, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
  4. Experience in pastoral support, mentoring, SEN education, or mental health work is highly desirable.
  5. A driving license and access to a car is beneficial but not essential.
