Job summary

Jacobs is seeking graduates for the Graduate Development Program in the UK, starting March 2027, focused on water sector projects. You’ll deliver mechanical designs, work with multidisciplinary teams, and develop technical and consulting capabilities through mentored learning and real project experience.

The program offers exposure to water/wastewater networks, asset management and project delivery across a range of sites, with a strong emphasis on safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Completed a relevant Degree or Master’s level qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, and network infrastructure projects.
• Produce mechanical calculations, specifications, schedules, technical reports, and design documentation.
• Design and specify mechanical process equipment, including pumps, screens, valves, pipework systems, penstocks, mixers, and treatment plant equipment.
• Support the development of outline and detailed designs in collaboration with process, electrical, ICA, civil, and structural engineering teams.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops.
• Undertake site visits, surveys, inspections, and commissioning support activities as required.
• Ensure designs comply with client specifications, industry standards, health and safety legislation, and environmental requirements.
• Support the development of project cost estimates, programmes, and technical proposals.
• Contribute to risk management and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
