Job summary

Fortis Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer for a client in High Wycombe. The role involves designing 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks, creating BOMs, and supporting tender proposals and product compliance.

You will assist in translating client requirements into defined manufacturing instructions, develop cost-effective design packages, and perform stress analyses to ensure quality and safety. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associated Degree or working towards.
• Experience of pressure retaining components.
• Should be mechanically biased.
• Fully conversant with SolidWorks & Microsoft Office.
• Flexibility in responding to critical deadlines.
• Good verbal and writing skills for reporting and client communications.

Responsibilities

• Assist the project management team to convert client engineering requirements into detailed defined instructions for procurement and production.
• Establish cost effective design packages ensuring quality and safety standards.
• Perform stress analysis calculations.
• Provide quotation data in the form of layout drawings and technical assistance.
• Attend internal design reviews and support design standards development.
• Liaise with stakeholders to obtain design approvals.
• Participate in client interface meetings to support sales and project engineering.

My client, a leading Engineering company based in High Wycombe is looking to recruit a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer on a full time, permanent basis.

The Graduate Engineer is responsible for providing design assistance and administrative engineering support for the Design department. Duties include designing 3-dimensional models and prototypes, producing detailed drawings, assisting in tender proposal submissions and documentation for product compliance.

They are responsible for managing product literature and crib sheets and generating bills of material (BOM). Graduate Engineer s also assist in defining product specifications and liaise with stakeholders to obtain design approval. They must possess knowledge in using design software such as Solidworks.

Main Responsibilities:

• Assist the project management team to convert client engineering requirements into detailed defined instructions for the procurement and production departments.
• Establish cost effective design packages for the satisfaction and timely completion of manufacturing and inspection activities ensuring compliance to quality, engineering, and safety standards.
• Perform stress analysis calculations.
• Provide quotation data in the form of layout drawings and technical assistance.
• Attend internal design reviews.
• Assist in the development of design standards.
• Participate in training and personal development.
• Participate in client interface meetings to support the sales and project engineering departments.

Experience and Personal Attributes

Hours of work are 07 30 Monday to Thursday and 07 30 on Fridays covering 40 hours a week.
