Step Into Teaching Limited is recruiting a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a Basildon primary school. The role offers hands-on classroom experience and a pathway to teaching or educational psychology careers for graduates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field is required or preferred.
• Experience or strong interest in working with children with SEN is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patient, proactive and enthusiastic.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are recruiting a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a mainstream primary school in Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on classroom experience, develop practical skills and make a meaningful difference to children's learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
• Support children with SEN, including autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
• Assist the class teacher with delivering engaging lessons and adapting learning activities.

• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds a degree (ideally a 2:2 or above) in Psychology, Education, Sociology or a related subject.
• Has a genuine interest in working with children with additional needs.
• Is patient, empathetic, proactive and enthusiastic about supporting young learners.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN or child development.

Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential, as the role offers an excellent starting point for graduates looking to enter education.
