Job summary

Anonymous is seeking a Graduate Laser Applications Engineer in Oxford to join its R&D team. You will design and run laser experiments, investigate laser-material interactions and help develop new manufacturing processes. A BSc/MPhys/MSc in Physics or related subject with a strong optics background is required.

You should have practical lab skills, a methodical approach and genuine curiosity. Some experience with Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW is advantageous; occasional international travel may be

Qualifications

  • BSc/MPhys/MSc in Physics or related field.
  • Strong grounding in optics and fundamental physics.
  • Practical laboratory skills and a methodical approach.
  • Interest in lasers, materials science and experimental physics.
  • Experience with university laser/optics projects is useful.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and carrying out laser experiments.
  • Investigating and optimizing laser-material interactions.
  • Operating laser systems and optical equipment.
  • Using microscopy, metrology and diagnostic tools to analyse results.
  • Adjusting laser parameters and evaluating their effects on materials.
  • Analysing data and drawing meaningful conclusions.
  • Developing experimental methods and process control techniques.
  • Working with software and instrumentation for data acquisition.
  • Maintaining clear records of experiments and results.
  • Collaborating with physicists and engineers on new technology development.
