Job description

A Future with purpose

At Arup, we’re dedicated to sustainable development and meaningful social work. Our purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have distinguished us for over 75 years, guiding us to shape a better world.

We solve complex problems and achieve what seems impossible. Our work involves curiosity and creativity—using technology, imagination, and rigor to deliver remarkable outcomes.

The Opportunity

As Landscape Architects at Arup, we expect our designers to think creatively and innovatively, developing optimal outcomes for people, nature, and the environment. Our work is vital in climate change adaptation, working with natural systems in urban and rural settings to build resilience and mitigate risks. This includes creating green and blue infrastructure strategies, multi-functional and regenerative designs, and applying sustainable principles throughout.

You will join an award-winning team that designs and delivers groundbreaking, iconic projects across infrastructure, building design, and technical services. As a global firm of designers, engineers, consultants, and technical experts, we own our work independently and aim to make a positive impact worldwide.

Our integrated approach delivers sustainable city and environment solutions. Our UK landscape teams are based in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Southampton, working on diverse projects mainly in the UK, India, the Middle East, and Africa. Our overseas teams are in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney), Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai), and Europe (Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Istanbul, Madrid, Warsaw).

We differentiate ourselves by our ability to combine skills to solve complex or unusual problems and help clients create a sustainable, integrated vision for successful places.

With a well-established landscape architecture practice, we offer services including:

  • Landscape-led masterplanning
  • Concept to detailed design and construction
  • Visualizations/3D modeling
  • Design guidelines and best practices
  • Nature-based solutions
  • Feasibility studies and area strategies
  • Strategic planning, assessment, and policy review

Our teams collaborate closely with urban design, architecture, ecology, town planning, sustainability experts, engineering, cost consulting, and project management.

Your typical daily responsibilities could include:

  • Assisting with design work and graphics
  • Preparing detailed construction drawings
  • Creating masterplan graphics
  • Producing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA)
  • Drafting clear, concise reports
  • Attending team meetings, project reviews, and workshops
  • Conducting site surveys
  • Planning your workload to meet deadlines
Is this role right for you?

We seek candidates with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field
  • A Master's or Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture or Management (desirable)

This role is based in London, UK, and we are considering UK-based applications only.

If you hold a Bachelor's degree, you should be committed to pursuing postgraduate qualification for chartership eligibility.

We value curiosity, adaptability, and the willingness to evolve professionally. Our strength lies in respecting diverse perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to a collective that encourages individuality.

If you can share knowledge, communicate ideas effectively, and deliver excellent client services, we want to hear from you.

Start date: September 2025.

To be considered, upload your sample portfolio in PDF format (max 20MB). Use image compression and vector drawings to reduce file size without sacrificing quality. Upload it in the 'supporting documents' section of your application.

What we offer you

We care about your success and growth. Guided by our values, we offer a competitive total reward package, including fair pay, benefits supporting health and wellbeing, learning opportunities, and impactful work.

As a member-owned company, we foster personal responsibility and the freedom to choose projects aligned with our purpose. Profit sharing is part of our collective success. Benefits include private medical insurance, life and accident insurance, income protection, and flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and family needs.
