Job summary

SynchroStor is seeking a graduate Engineer to support the development and deployment of industrial heat pump systems. You will focus on applying thermodynamic knowledge, identifying applications, engaging clients and evaluating early-stage projects at our Edinburgh-area facilities.

The role is in-person with UK right-to-work required. You will collaborate with a small team, perform modelling in Excel and MATLAB/Simulink, and contribute to reports, budgets and tender preparations while supporting

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng).
• Demonstrated interest in energy systems, thermodynamics or low-carbon tech.
• Evidence of relevant experience beyond academics (internships, projects).
• Good understanding of thermodynamic cycles and process engineering principles.
• Proficiency in Excel; MATLAB/Simulink advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess industrial applications, including process data and plant layout.
• Support client engagement through meetings and technical discussions.
• Perform thermodynamic and process modelling (Excel, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Conduct techno-economic feasibility studies.
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs and 2D CAD drawings for system integration.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, tenders and budget estimates.
• Occasional site visits (approximately quarterly) to facilities.
• Feed application insights back to R&D system development.
• Specify, size and procure process equipment.
• Contribute to safety studies (HAZOP, HAZID) and safety improvements.
