Tetra Tech is seeking a Graduate Hydrogeologist to join our groundwater and geothermal team in Cardiff or Birmingham. You’ll contribute to field investigations, desktop studies, data analysis and reporting across UK and international projects, while developing through our NextGen Talent programme.

As a Graduate Hydrogeologist, you will join our groundwater and geothermal business within the wider geo‑environmental and mining unit. You will support groundwater resources, contaminant hydrogeology and geothermal projects across Great Britain, Ireland and internationally. The team works on high‑profile frameworks and contracts, including water supply, remediation, borehole decommissioning and geothermal energy projects.
You will assist with the design, procurement, supervision and management of groundwater and geothermal investigations. Your work will include desktop studies, groundwater surveys, monitoring, testing and assessment, alongside accurate collection and analysis of site data to support modelling. You will also contribute to detailed factual and interpretative reports, helping clients assess and implement new water supply and geothermal energy systems.
You will hold a first degree in geology, engineering geology, environmental science or a related subject, together with a Master’s or PhD in groundwater or hydrogeology. Enthusiasm for groundwater and geothermal energy, strong analytical, written, communication and presentation skills, GIS experience and excellent teamwork are essential. Relevant work experience, such as a placement, is desirable. A full clean driving licence is required.
You will be based in either our Cardiff or Birmingham office, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements available in line with team and project requirements. Office attendance will vary depending on training, collaboration and project needs, with greater flexibility possible as your experience develops. The role involves travel across including occasional short periods away from home. A flexible approach to time management and a willingness to travel are therefore essential.
