Job description

We are seeking an HSQE Advisor to join our client, a leading supplier of fabricated steel bridges and steel composite bridges, as well as specialist steel refurbishment contractors. Based in Lanarkshire, this role offers the opportunity to work across a range of projects, including on-site strengthening works, specialist installation, and heavy fabrication of workshop-built rail, road, and footbridges.

The HSQE Advisor will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations, supporting a proactive safety culture, and providing guidance on best practices across rail, highways, and civil engineering projects. This position is ideal for an individual looking to embark on a career within safety or someone who is in the early stages of their safety career. It would be preferable if the candidate had experience in industries such as civil engineering, rail, or highways. Candidates should ideally hold a Nebosh certificate or be willing to work towards this. Quality training will be provided as required.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures for rail, highways, and civil engineering projects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to identify hazards and implement control measures.
• Support health, safety, quality, and environmental training for employees and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
• Provide guidance and support to site teams and management to ensure best practices are followed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance workplace safety and compliance.
• Ensure training is up-to-date and meets current requirements.
• Conduct audits with external bodies to ensure policies and certifications comply with regulations.
