Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Sheffield is seeking a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to begin a career in site investigation. You will gain hands-on experience on ground investigations, logging soils and rocks, and assisting with reports while developing technical skills in a supportive team.

This permanent role offers a starting salary of £26,000–£28,000, structured training, CPD and progression into more senior positions, with a mix of fieldwork and office tasks and a pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Hold a degree in Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related subject (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
• Be proactive, dependable, and keen to learn.
• Have a full UK driving licence.
• Be eligible to work in the UK.
• Live within commuting distance of Sheffield.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ground investigations and fieldwork.
• Support drilling operations and site supervision.
• Log soil and rock samples accurately.
• Record environmental and geotechnical data.
• Help prepare technical and interpretative reports.
