Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a Flood and Water Support Officer to join the Flood & Water team. The role supports the council in fulfilling its LLFA duties under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and helps communities become more resilient to flooding.

You will develop technical knowledge across flood risk activities, engage with residents and stakeholders, and assist with data analysis, site visits and partner coordination.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage large and complex datasets with data protection principles.
• Strong customer service experience and empathy when engaging with communities.
• Willingness to develop technical knowledge in flood risk management.
• Graduate-level understanding of relevant disciplines and statutory duties.

Responsibilities

• Support the LLFA in flood risk management activities.
• Respond to enquiries and data requests from residents, businesses and partners.
• Manage flood risk datasets and GIS records ensuring data is up to date and accessible.
• Assist in flood investigations by gathering data and engaging with communities and partners.
