Job summary

AECOM invites applications for a Graduate Fire Engineer to shape fire safety performance in buildings from early design stages. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to understand how design choices affect fire safety strategy and building performance.

You will apply advanced analytical methods including CFD, smoke modelling, evacuation analysis and other tools to inform safe, innovative design solutions, with mentorship and opportunities for professional registration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (2:1 or equivalent) in Fire Engineering or related discipline.
• Master’s degree in Fire Engineering is advantageous.
• Strong numerical skills for analysis and interpretation of data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Flexible and adaptable to project needs and deadlines.
• Motivation and enthusiasm for pursuing a career in Fire Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, fire strategy drawings, and fire strategy reports under guidance.
• Support collection, analysis, and documentation of engineering data to inform decisions.
• Use engineering software and digital tools to solve basic technical problems and contribute to design development.
• Present technical work clearly and professionally to the project team.
• Deliver tasks in line with budgets, deadlines, and quality standards.
• Take ownership of personal and professional development and seek growth opportunities.
