Job summary

RLB, a Built Asset Consultancy, seeks a Graduate Fire Engineer in Birmingham with hybrid working. You will support fire engineering teams on high-profile projects from concept through construction, gaining hands-on experience via mentoring and a tailored training programme.

As a recent graduate you will develop fire safety strategies, perform calculations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with UK regulations.

Qualifications

• A degree (or pending) in Fire Engineering or related STEM discipline.
• Strong interest in fire safety and building design.
• Willingness to learn through mentoring and development programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing fire safety strategies and reports for new and existing buildings in accordance with UK regulations and international codes.
• Conduct fire engineering calculations, including means of escape, smoke control, and structural fire protection.
• Support the use of computational tools such as CFD and evacuation modelling software.
• Contribute to fire risk assessments, audits, and site inspections.
• Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external clients, architects, and building control bodies.
• Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation and technical standards.
• Participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions and graduate development programs.
