Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is looking for a Graduate Engineering Geologist to join the Liverpool team. You will work on ground investigation projects across the North West, gaining hands-on field experience in site work, logging and reporting, alongside experienced engineers and geologists.

We offer practical training, exposure to diverse projects, and progression toward professional accreditation, with a salary of £27,000–£32,000 depending on experience, in a Liverpool-based role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoscience or a related subject.
• Willingness to start a career in ground engineering.
• Willingness to travel to sites across the North West; UK driving licence beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Attending and supervising ground investigation sites
• Working alongside drilling contractors
• Logging soils and rock to recognised standards
• Trial pitting, window sampling and cable percussion investigations
• Taking soil and groundwater samples
• Groundwater and gas monitoring
• Preparing factual ground investigation reports
• Assisting with interpretative reporting and ground models
• Reviewing laboratory and in-situ testing results
• Producing site records, logs and technical drawings
• Supporting senior engineers and project managers
• Liaising with contractors and clients on site
