Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Graduate Engineering Geologist in Hertfordshire to join a growing consultancy. This hands-on role offers a mix of site and office work to build experience across ground investigation, geotechnical assessment and reporting.

You will work with experienced engineers and geologists on projects from initial investigation through to reporting, with training and mentoring to help you develop toward chartership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or a related subject.
• Genuine interest in developing a career within geotechnical engineering.
• Good communication and report-writing skills.
• Willingness to work both on site and in the office.
• A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with ground investigations and site work.
• Logging soil and rock to relevant standards.
• Carrying out site observations and geotechnical testing.
• Supporting desk studies and ground assessments.
• Assisting with factual and interpretative reporting.
• Reviewing and interpreting ground investigation data.
• Liaising with contractors and clients.
• Supporting senior engineers with project delivery.

Are you a recent Geology or Engineering Geology graduate looking to get your career off the ground?

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Graduate Engineering Geologist to join a growing consultancy in Hertfordshire. This is a hands‑on role offering a good mix of site and office‑based work, giving you the chance to build experience across ground investigation, geotechnical assessment and reporting.

The Role

You will work alongside experienced engineers and geologists, getting involved in projects from initial investigation through to reporting and assessment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with ground investigations and site work


• Logging soil and rock to relevant standards


• Carrying out site observations and geotechnical testing


• Supporting desk studies and ground assessments


• Assisting with factual and interpretative reporting
