Job summary

Chiltern is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Milton Keynes to design pneumatic products and handle customer requests with precision. You will produce concept and detailed drawings, test prototypes, and support European subsidiaries while ensuring timely project delivery.

Applicants should hold a 2:1 Mechanical Engineering degree, have CAD experience, and be proficient in MS Word/Excel with strong English communication. Occasional travel to European customers may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2.1 degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or MEng).
• Experience in managing projects (university/projects count).
• Ideal to have experience in a design environment and CAD.
• Experience in writing technical reports.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team.
• Able to travel to European customers when required.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel; excellent spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Design all aspects of new pneumatic products and review requests from sales.
• Create concept designs for customised existing products to meet customer requests.
• Produce detailed part drawings for prototype testing with designers.
• Carry out testing of pneumatic products and ensure timely completion of projects.
• Participate on larger projects under supervision from a senior engineer.
• Provide technical product support to European subsidiaries.
• Visit customers to determine technical requirements for special products.
• Contribute to technical market research and compliance with directives and standards.

Role The role involves reviewing requests for customised existing pneumatic products from sales to ensure specification is clear and viable; occasionally working with designers to create concept designs of customised existing products to meet customer's request; occasionally creating detailed parts drawings for prototype testing with designer; carrying out testing of pneumatic products; being responsible for ensuring timely completion of own projects; participation on larger projects with supervision from senior Engineer; providing technical product support to European subsidiaries; visiting customers to determine technical requirements for special products; participating in technical market research activities and providing technical support concerning directives and standards relevant to pneumatic products.
