Job summary

AECOM is seeking Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our Water teams across the North and Midlands. Based in Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds or Manchester, you’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid working model while delivering design excellence on water treatment projects for major UK clients.

You’ll contribute to feasibility through to construction design, develop electrical designs, diagrams and specs, and grow professionally through our ADVANCE programme and extensive learning resources.

Qualifications

• MEng in Electrical Engineering preferred; professional registration pursued.
• Relevant work experience in water/wastewater projects is advantageous.
• Enthusiastic, driven, and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design activities for water and wastewater projects.
• Produce power supply capacity assessments and load calculations.
• Create electrical single line diagrams and cable block diagrams.
• Prepare cable calculations and cable schedules.
• Draft lighting design specifications and MCC/Control Panel specs.
• Produce electrical specification documents and ICA scope.
• Utilise Amtech and Electrical OM software in design work.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients and contractors; report progress.

Job description

Are you ready to shape the future of water infrastructure? We are looking for Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our established and growing Water teams with opportunities to be based across our North and Midlands offices - Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds and Manchester while also benefiting from our flexible hybrid working model. The teams are delivering an exciting portfolio of water programmes and projects through long term frameworks with key clients including major UK water companies (Thames Water, Wessex Water, Welsh Water, Severn Trent Water, Southern Water and Yorkshire) and Tier 1 Contractors. You will have the opportunity to engage in all design stages, including Feasibility, Outline, Detail, and Construction Design, ensuring compliance with National and International Design Standards. Here's what you'll do: Electrical Design Support senior and lead electrical engineers in the development and management of all aspects of electrical design in wastewater and water infrastructure / treatment projects, including:

• Production of power supply capacity assessments and load calculations
• Production of electrical single line and cable block diagrams
• Production of cable calculations and cable schedules
• Production of lighting design specifications
• Production of Motor Control Centres (MCC)/Control Panel specifications including Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) scopes
• Production of electrical specification documents
• Utilise Amtech, Electrical OM software design programmes
• Liaise with internal and external design teams, clients and contractors as appropriate
• Provision of timely reporting to both the client and internal team lead.

Collaboration Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers to deliver a variety of interesting small and large projects from concept to detailed design. Ready to push the limits of what's possible?

• MEng in Electrical Engineering (2:1 or above, or equivalent) would be preferred;
• Relevant work experience would be an advantage;
• Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive;
• Basic computer skills essential (Word/Excel) and good report writing skills;
• Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications such as Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with the relevant institution (e.g. IET)
• Demonstrable interest in water projects;
• Structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole;
• Ability to work independently without losing initiative & focus., You must have permanent right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
