Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the Water team across the UK, delivering electrical design for wastewater and water infrastructure with a flexible hybrid working model.

You will contribute across all design stages, from feasibility through construction, collaborating with civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers on projects for major water clients and tiers of contractors.

Qualifications

• MEng in Electrical Engineering preferred with 2:1 or above.
• Willing to work toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking and technically proficient.
• Good report writing and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design across feasibility to construction design stages for water projects.
• Produce electrical single line diagrams, load calculations, and cable schedules.
• Develop MCC/Control Panel specifications and instrumentation scopes.
• Liaise with internal teams, clients and contractors; provide timely reports.

We are looking for Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our established and growing Water teams with opportunities to be based across our North and Midlands offices - Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds and Manchester while also benefiting from our flexible hybrid working model. The teams are delivering an exciting portfolio of water programmes and projects through long term frameworks with key clients including major UK water companies (Thames Water, Wessex Water, Welsh Water, Severn Trent Water, Southern Water and Yorkshire) and Tier 1 Contractors.

You will have the opportunity to engage in all design stages, including Feasibility, Outline, Detail, and Construction Design, ensuring compliance with National and International Design Standards.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Electrical Design

Support senior and lead electrical engineers in the development and management of all aspects of electrical design in wastewater and water infrastructure / treatment projects, including:

• Production of power supply capacity assessments and load calculations
• Production of electrical single line and cable block diagrams
• Production of cable calculations and cable schedules
• Production of lighting design specifications
• Production of Motor Control Centres (MCC)/Control Panel specifications including Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) scopes
• Production of electrical specification documents
• Liaise with internal and external design teams, clients and contractors as appropriate
• Provision of timely reporting to both the client and internal team lead.

Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers to deliver a variety of interesting small and large projects from concept to detailed design. Many of the project teams are UK wide, offering an excellent, unbeatable opportunity to share expertise and broaden knowledge through the company.

• Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications such as Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with the relevant institution (e.g. IET)
• Demonstrable interest in water projects;
• Structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole;
• Ability to work independently without losing initiative & focus.
