Job summary

Arup in London is recruiting a graduate electrical engineer to join the Energy team and help deliver low carbon energy systems. You will contribute to high‑level infrastructure sizing, electrical systems design and grid connection studies within a multidisciplinary group.

We require a Masters in Electrical Engineering, Python, MS Office and Excel skills, and strong written communication. German language ability is a plus.

The Opportunity

The Energy team in London is recruiting a graduate electrical engineer to join to support our work in delivering low carbon energy systems.

We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers, scientists, policy makers and planners. Our projects include infrastructure design (for substations, power lines, renewable energy installations, etc), new grid connection studies, high-level master planning studies and low carbon energy strategies from building scale to city scale.

Recent Projects Include
  • Low carbon energy masterplans for large development sites in the UK, the Middle East and India
  • Contributions in a variety of roles to the great grid upgrade programme
  • Substation design
  • Renewable energy feasibility and owners engineering roles
Responsibilities

You will be involved in high-level infrastructure sizing, electrical systems design and grid connection studies including power systems modelling. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • High-level power demand modelling to size infrastructure for masterplan designs
  • Renewable energy feasibility studies and owners' engineering roles
  • Preliminary design of primary and secondary substations
  • Transmission Line design
Is this role right for you?

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • A Masters level (or equivalent) in relevant academic discipline, such as Electrical Engineering.
  • Software skills: Python, MS Office, Excel
  • Strong Communication & written Skills.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, DIgSILENT would be desirable.
  • German language skills would be advantageous but not a prerequisite.
