Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is offering a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer role based in Newcastle as part of the 2027 Early Careers programme. You will work with Power T&D teams on major infrastructure projects, applying your degree to real-world designs from day one.

You will develop technical and professional skills alongside experienced engineers in a supportive graduate community, progressing toward chartership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a genuine interest in the industry.
• Achieve a minimum 2:2 honours degree by the time you start.
• Graduate development mindset with potential for professional accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of LV electrical distribution systems and related infrastructure.
• Produce, review, and coordinate technical documentation and design deliverables.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and engineering information for project delivery.
• Apply engineering software and digital tools to develop and refine solutions.
• Support design reviews and respond to technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
