Job summary

Amey seeks a Graduate Ecologist to support ecological surveys for rail, highways and facilities across the UK, joining the Energy, Transition & Sustainability (ET&S) team in Manchester.

You'll learn from experienced ecologists, undertake walkover surveys, prepare reports, and contribute to biodiversity goals while ensuring legislative compliance. Start Sep 2027; 40 hours/week; hybrid options available.

Qualifications

• Degree (minimum 2:1) in Ecology or relevant subject.
• Strong knowledge of UK protected species.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player, self-motivated and fast learner.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake ecological walkover surveys to identify constraints for schemes.
• Develop innovative solutions with support from senior colleagues.
• Prepare technical reports summarising survey findings, potential impacts and recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and other disciplines to produce robust deliverables.
