Job summary

North Warwickshire Borough Council is seeking two Trainee/Graduate Development Management Officers to join the Development Management Team. You will handle planning applications and provide guidance to applicants and the public while training on the job.

A planning or related degree is preferred and the council will support qualifications as needed. Strong communication, organisational skills and a valid driving licence are essential; some out-of-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• At least A Level or equivalent qualification at entry level.
• You will be required to hold, or be working towards, a Planning, or related degree, for the higher levels of this post.
• The Council will support the successful candidate to gain the required qualifications (subject to contractual provisions).
• Strong communication and organisational skills are essential to this post.
• A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are required; out of hours work may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Process process minor, householder and other planning applications.
• Offer advice and assistance to prospective applicants and the general public.
• Prepare reports to the Council’s Planning and Development Board.
• Defend the Council’s decisions through the planning appeal system.
