Job summary

Kier Group plc is seeking a Graduate Design Engineer to join the Design Team in Basingstoke. You will support the transportation design area, assist in preparing designs, schedules and reports, and gain hands-on experience across highways, rail and ports projects in the UK.

Starting salary is £30,000 per annum with a two-year pathway toward an assistant level role, with salary potential around £38k. Graduates due in 2026 or recently graduated; full UK driving licence preferred; permanent,

  • Ideally hold a full UK drivers' licence.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation and management of project designs, plans, and specifications

Job description

As a Graduate Design Engineer, you'll be an essential part of our design engineering team, helping to shape the future of construction and infrastructure across the UK.

What will your day-to-day duties include?
  • Assisting in the preparation and management of project designs, plans, and specifications
  • Supporting the development and monitoring of project schedules and budgets.
  • Conducting site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Collaborating with project managers and engineers to solve technical issues and ensure project success
  • Preparing technical reports, documentation, and providing project updates

We're looking for people due to graduate in 2026, or have recently graduated within the past three years, with a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
