Job summary

Hudson Shribman in the South East is seeking an early-career Controls Engineer to join a manufacturing business known for specialist products for demanding industrial applications. This graduate role combines controls, automation, electrical, software and machinery.

You will work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve production equipment, develop automation solutions and troubleshoot machinery. The role suits someone with an engineering degree and some exposure to controls,

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Control, Instrumentation or Software Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of SCADA systems, including Python-based solutions.
• Assist with PLC programming, including Ladder Logic and Structured Control Language (SCL).
• Select sensors and electrical hardware for machine improvements and automation projects.
• Develop defect detection and quality systems using Python, OpenCV and Raspberry Pi.
• Wiring, installing, commissioning and fault-finding industrial machinery.
• Work across electrical, mechanical and software issues to identify and resolve problems.
• Troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs), AC motors and associated control systems.
• Support continuous improvement and automation projects across the manufacturing operation.
