Job summary

Somerset Council is offering a Communications and Social Change Graduate role as part of its two-year Graduate Scheme in Taunton. You’ll support delivery of communications, engagement activities and behaviour change initiatives to help communities prepare for flooding and climate challenges.

You will gain experience across campaigns, research, stakeholder collaboration and project administration within a flexible, hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree or equivalent with 2:2 or higher, obtained within the last 3 years.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience in research, analysis and presenting findings clearly.
• Good IT and digital skills and confidence using various systems and tools.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and delivery of communication and engagement campaigns.
• Help develop behaviour change initiatives for flood resilience.
• Carry out research and insight gathering to inform projects and communications activities.
• Coordinate and administer programme activities and projects.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, partners, stakeholders and community groups.
