Job summary

Iceni Consulting Anglia Limited in Colchester, Essex, is seeking a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join our expanding team. You will gain hands-on experience from concept through construction while working on residential, commercial, and industrial projects with experienced engineers.

The role offers structured training, mentoring, and opportunities toward ICE membership within a friendly consultancy environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (BEng or MEng).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Global awareness of UK design standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and detailing of civil engineering projects.
• Prepare drawings, calculations, reports and technical documentation.
• Undertake site visits and surveys as required.
• Work with senior engineers to develop practical design solutions.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities and other consultants.
• Support project delivery to timescales and budgets.
• Develop technical knowledge and industry-standard practices.

About the Role

Due to continued growth, we areseekinga motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Civil Engineer to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their career within a friendly and supportive consultancy environment, working on a diverse range of civil and structural engineering projects across the residential,commercialand industrial sectors.

You will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining valuable hands‑on experience in the design and delivery of projects from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assistwith the design and detailing of civil engineering projects.
• Prepare drawings, calculations,reportsand technical documentation.
• Undertake site visits and surveys asrequired.
• Work alongside senior engineers to develop practical and cost-effective design solutions.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, localauthoritiesand other consultants.
• Support project delivery to agreed timescales and budgets.
• Develop technical knowledge and working practices in line with industry standards and regulations.

About You

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (BEng or MEng).
• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills.
• Good problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Site3D,Info Drainage/Flowor similar software.
• Understanding of highways and drainage design principles.
• Awareness of UK design standards and construction practices.
• Desire to work towards professional qualifications such as Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.
