Job summary

Wallace Stone LLP in Glasgow is seeking a Graduate or Early Career Civil Engineer to join our team and contribute to marine and coastal infrastructure projects across Scotland, from harbours and piers to breakwaters and bridges. From day one you’ll be involved in design, analysis, surveys and project delivery, supported by Chartered Engineers mentoring your path toward ICE Chartership.

This role provides early responsibility and real involvement with clients.

Qualifications

• A good degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, preferably MEng with Merit (2:1) or above.
• Initiative and enthusiasm, and enjoyment of working in a dynamic team.
• A good understanding of structural design and its basic principles.
• A good grasp of geotechnical design and its basic principles.
• Experience in using finite element structural analysis packages.
• Ability in the preparation of designs, calculations, specifications and reports.
• Willingness to undertake site work including initial feasibility assessment, site inspection/survey and site supervision.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to become chartered and an interest in career progression within the business.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the design and analysis of marine and civil engineering infrastructure.
• Preparation and review of engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Undertake site inspections, surveys and condition assessments.
• Support project delivery from concept design through to construction.
• Collaborating with clients, contractors, local authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and CDM Regulations.
• Developing technical knowledge of marine structures, coastal protection works, bridges and related infrastructure.
